Modern Homesteading – Don’t miss the next big trend
I met so many interesting people at Edi’s Garden wholesale event in Langley, B.C. last month and I asked everyone “what is your big idea?”. I got many interesting answers and here is one I had not heard of before – “Modern Homesteading”.
Sunlight supply (www.SunlightSupply.com) is in the process of looking for a demonstration site in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and both the Director of Global Sales and the Chief sales officer (Rob) were on hand to give me a quote. Here is Rob’s response to my question.
Watch for future postings from other garden inventors and suppliers. I think it’s fun to share what I have discovered with gardeners everywhere.
Transcript from Rob’s Interview taped October 19, 2016:
My name is Rob Williams of Sunlight Supply (www.SunlightSupply.com) and my big idea is Modern Homesteading. And Modern Homesteading is truly an opportunity to enjoy a year-round hobby of gardening. Obviously because of weather, in most areas in the northern part of the United Statesand Canada you can only enjoy your hobby four to five months of the year.
When you are able to garden indoors it is 24/7 365, so this is a movement about enjoying a hobby, self reliance, sustainability and honestly a better future by mitigating the food to table.
I guess it’s the hobbyist thing. If you are growing outdoors, particularly here, you start in the spring and you are ending – by now. With indoor growing you can grow whatever you want whenever you want 365 days of the year. That’s what modern homesteading is about. It’s a healthier way of life. You can control the inputs in your garden so you know exactly what you are injesting. Does that make sense?
