Where: CBC Radio Across Alberta
When:May 25, 2018
What: Garden Phone-In Radio Show on CBC Radio
Did you miss out? The call-in gardening show was on May 25 between 12:30 and 1:00 PM.
Callers share ideas with Donna and we discuss the most environmentally effective solution to your garden problems.
Early spring ideas: seed your early peas, cabbage, potatoes, beets, chard, lettuce, arugula, Brussels sprouts, kale, radish, and turnips now. Transplant onions, shallots, garlic and yellow onions now too making sure they are shallow and not planted too deep.
In a week or so it will be time to plant the warm season crops like tomatoes, peppers, and squash. If you want to start squash indoors now then it will be ready in a couple of weeks for planting outside. I like to start zucchini and butternut squash, pumpkins and watermelons by mid-late May for early June planting.
